The scientists have discovered that iridium, if it is exposed by light, can destroy cancer cells. And with the help of blood protein, it can be transported to the necessary places.

Professor Peter Sadler from the University of Warwick says “It's amazing that this large protein can penetrate into cancer cells and deliver the iridium, which can selectively destroy them if it is activated by visible light. If this technology occurs in hospitals, it can be effective against resistant cancers and will contribute to reducing the side effects of chemotherapy. ”

The researchers noted that they are now at a very early stage and are going to continue working in this direction.

The study was published in the Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
