Conference devoted to the application of ICT "AIST 2016" launched

On October 12 in Baku started its work X International Conference on "Application of information and communication technologies" ("AICT 2016").

Opening the conference, rector of the Caucasus UniversityProfessor Havar Mammadov noted that, more than 80 representatives from 22 countries are participating at the event. He has expressed confidence that the action will make the contribution to development of the respective area in our country. It was noted that, the conference is organized by the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of Azerbaijan Republic, Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Caucasus University, Baku State University, Baku branch of Moscow State University after Lomonosov, Baku Higher School of Oil, Azerbaijan Technical University, University of Malaysia Sabah, the Institute of Information Technology and the Institute of the management systems of ANAS, UNESCO Institute for Information Technologies in Education (IITE), the Scientific Foundation for Economic Co-operation (ECOSF), under the sponsorship of Nar Mobile and DELL EMC.

Rector noted that, President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree and adopted state program on development of ICT in our country. This is a prime example that the corresponding sphere in Azerbaijan is always in the spotlight of the state.

Focusing on the activities of the Caucasus University in the field of ICT, G. Mammadov noted that, a higher educational institution fully electronized, more than 60 percent of the students enrolled are prepared as specialists in the appropriate direction. Speaking about the actuality of topics which to be discussed at the conference, the rector of BSU, Academician Abel Maharramovnoted that, scientists from several countries of the world, the event will share their thoughts in relation to the use of ICT.

And it will give impetus to the development of the relevant field, not only in our country but throughout the world. Speaking about the work done in the field of ICT in Azerbaijan, Rector emphasized that, important advances have been achieved in this direction. Thanks to the attention and care of our Head of State, scientists have been working in this direction. Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizade noted that, the conference in Azerbaijan is an important event. ICT is the requirement of time, and its rapid implementation in all areas necessary for the development of any country.

President Ilham Aliyev this area special attention. It is no accident that, ICT declared a priority area of the state. In our country, in this regard signed and adopted documents of strategic importance. In this sense, the role of ICT is invaluable. In the current context of globalization, the emergence and development of the information society is of strategic character. Speaking about the challenges facing the Conference and solutions arising in this area, Academician-Secretary ANAS, Director of the Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliev brought to the attention of that part of the ongoing development of science reforms in Azerbaijan is connected with ICT.

Therefore, the widespread introduction of ICT in our country poses great challenges to domestic scientists. Noting the relevance of the reports presented at the conference, Academician stressed that, this event is a perfect example of the integration of science and education.

Further, emphasizing the relevance of the topics to be discussed at the conference, Baku Higher Oil School, Vice Rector Ramiz Humbatov, acting Rector of Azerbaijan Technical University Khalig Yahudov, the President of the Scientific Foundation "ECO", Prof. Manzur Sumro and others have brought to the attention that such events are of great importance in terms of the exchange of views between the experts of relevant fields.

The conference, which runs until 14 October, reports will be delivered and to be held discussions on the following topics: "Management and use of large amounts of data", "data and engineering Processing", "Cyber Security Challenges", "Recent advances in the use of ICTs" "Communication, network and equipment", "ICT in business, management and economics", "ICT in public services", "ICT in scientific, educational, social and humanitarian studies", "ICT in medicine and health care".
