Scientists from the group of theoretical nanophotonics, led by Professor Nikolai Gippius from Scolteh, together with colleagues from the Moscow State University and the Royal Institute of Technology (RIT) in Stockholm, first theoretically and then experimentally demonstrated that the gold nanopowders change the absorption and photoluminescence spectra of silicon nanocrystals. It turned out that the width of the nanoscatter also affects the optical properties of quantum dots. The obtained results are important for the practical application of silicon nanocrystals.
