Researchers from the Colorado School of Mines proposed a new two-stage system for separating impurities from natural gas. Natural gas mainly consists of methane, but the impurities in the gas mixture must be removed before the methane can be introduced into the pipeline. The newly proposed purification system combines two separation methods and promises to improve productivity, reduce expenditures and decrease environmental side effects as compared to conventional technologies.
