ANAS Presidium, chaired by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh held held a regular meeting of the Republican Council for Coordination of Scientific Research on 12 July.

Opening the meeting, chairman of the Republican Council for the Coordination of Scientific Research, Academician Akif Alizade introduced the issues on the agenda.

First, he spoke about the project "Doctrine of the development of Azerbaijani science." Noting that, the development of science in the country is one of the main priorities of state policy, Academician Akif Alizadeh said that the future of the state, its economic, political and military power is directly related to its scientific potential.

Head of ANAS said that, national science has a long history and rich tradition: "For centuries, scientists of Azerbaijan their works dedicated to various areas of scientific thinking, have made a significant contribution to the development of science and culture, and stood in the service of conservation science continuity of development of scientific relations between the East and West".

Noting that, stage of fruitful development of the Academy is associated with the name of Heydar Aliyev, Academician added that, carried out by great leader policy in the field of science and education today is successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Academician Akif Alizadeh, the activities which, were carried out to implement the orders approved by Head of State the "National Strategy on Science Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009-2015" and "State Program on implementation of the National Strategy on Science Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009- 2015", promoted the development of national science in general.

Having reminded of the speech of the President Ilham Aliyev on the General meeting devoted to 70th anniversary of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh has noted that, Head of State has determined the purposes of the Azerbaijani science, lifted the major problems and has set for it certain tasks which constitute a basis of the program of further activities of ANAS now.

He reported that, being guided by the scientific priorities pushed by the President of the country, instructions and recommendations given them in the sphere of scientific development, and also considering that completion date of National Strategy has expired, and the main questions specified in Strategy are still actual, primary project "Doctrines of Development of the Azerbaijani Science", providing implementation of complex actions in the scientific sphere which will be performed by ANAS together with the relevant state organizations has been developed.

The Academician noted that, such important provisions as preserving and strengthening of the existing scientific and technical potential as national wealth of our people will find the reflection in the Doctrine; carrying out reforms in the scientific sphere; increase of a role of science in economic development of the country; determination of priorities of basic and applied scientific researches according to new economic model of the state, development of not oil sector of the country, the solution of such tasks, as strengthening of defensive power of the republic, ensuring its safety, the solution of social and economic and cultural and moral problems; continuation of complex research works with the purpose of providing a sustainable development of the country, including its energy, ecological and food security, etc.

Around the draft document, discussions were held. Their suggestions and recommendations voiced by the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli, Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Academician Rasim Aliguliyev, ANAS consultant, Academician Garib Mammadov, Deputy Chairman of the Higher Attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, corresponding member of ANAS Vali Huseynov, Rector of Nakhchivan State University, corresponding member of ANAS Saleh Maharramov, Rector of the Azerbaijan Technical University, Doctor of Engineering Sciences Khavar Mammadov and others. They noted that, the doctrine has a very great significance in terms of the development of domestic science; it reflected the basic principles of state policy and strategy in the field of science.

The event also discussed the plan of admission for doctoral studies and PhD for 2016 Head of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that, one of the activities undertaken in the field of improvement of the educational process at the Academy is to conduct admission to doctoral and PhD on the basis of modern requirements Informing that, for the current year, the training program for PhD has been allocated 93 places, and the training program for doctors - 41 places, Academician added that, reception has been successfully completed.

Head of Department of Science and Education of the Presidium of ANAS Administration, Ph.D in Engineering Aminaga Sadigov informed on Changes in Structure of Scientific Council on the problems of physics, economics, art and architecture, as well as management of land and water resources and environmental protection. In conclusion, were adopted on these issues appropriate resolutions.
