Employees of the chemical and physical faculties of Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov studied the influence of selective surface upon how the copolymer material and its properties, that is capable of selectively absorbing one of the monomers.

In the experimental part of the work, scientists synthesized copolymers of acrylic acid in silica gel and nanosized pores of its granules. The characteristics of the copolymers were determined by IR- and NMR- spectroscopy, gel-permeation chromatography. For computer modeling of the copolymerization process, scientists used the method of dissipative particle dynamics. For calculations, scientists used the supercomputer of the Moscow State University "Lomonosov-2".

The scientists described their work in an article that was published in the journal Langmuir: the ACS Journal of Surfaces and Colloids.
