Chemists from the University of Reims (France), the Mexican Petroleum Institute and the National Polytechnic Institute of Petroleum explained the emergence and disappearance of the "islands" in the seas of Titan. According to the researchers, islands similar to objects are actually large bubbles of nitrogen, rising from the depth of about 200 meters. The increased pressure in the Ligeisk Sea leads to a phase stratification of the liquid and release of nitrogen. The study is published in the journal Nature Astronomy.
