The scientific community of Azerbaijan has suffered a heavy loss. At age of 92th died a famous scholar and teacher, cavalier of "Shohrat" order, Academician Magsud Aliyev.

On December 26 at the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences held a farewell ceremony with prominent scientists.

Speaking at the ceremony, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh, acting Academician-Secretary of Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov, Rector of Baku State University, Academician Abel Maharramov Academician Bahadur Tagiyev, corresponding member of ANAS Yusif Mammadov spoke about the contribution of the famous scientist, teacher and public figure in the physical sciences as well as his moral.

It was noted that, member of Great Patriotic War Magsud Aliyev, since 1950's, has embarked on a major research in physics and has achieved successful results. In 1969 he was elected a corresponding member, and in 1980 –as active member of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. Created his own school in the field of semiconductor physics Magsud Aliyev was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist", award the "Shohrat" medal and Prize after Yusif Mammadaliyev.

It was noted that, as the author of over 400 scientific papers, 30 patents and certificates and a member of many scientific councils and commissions, M. Aliyev made a valuable contribution to the development of intellectual and ethical culture in the country.

Then, acting on behalf of the family of the deceased, Khanlar Hasanov expressed his gratitude for the respect and reverence for the memory of the scientist.

The scientist physicist is buried in the second Alley of Honor.
