Group of Cornell University scientists demonstrated a robot with a sensitive hand. As reported on the website of the University, the robotic arm, called Gentle Bot,  is capable to feel most precisely  the density of objects, for example, by the touch to determine which of three tomatoes is ripe. It is able to determine the texture and shape, as well as gently pick up and compress the objects. According to the developers, Gentle Bot is different from many other mechanical hands that it is made of soft materials, conducting light. It is equipped with optical sensors arranged in the fingers. According to experts´ opinion this technology will not only create better robots, but also to develop advanced prosthetic devices.
