2nd Azerbaijan Science Festival, which has implemented at the initiative of ANAS and met with great interest by scientific community of the republic, carried on its work in Sheki, the city of festivals, on November 4.

At the event, which took place at the Sheki State Drama Theatre on behalf Sabit Rahman, head of Executive Power of Sheki city Elkhan Usubov stressed out the importance of the festival for our republic.

Emphasizing Sheki as one of the scientific, educational and cultural cities, playing vital role in formation of Azerbaijan culture, E.Usubov underlined the holding of festival as a remarkable event in scientific-social life of the city.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Earth Sciences ANAS Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov stated that, as a response to President Ilham Aliyev’s challenge “We must turn Azerbaijan into a leading scientific center in a region”, Science Festival is carried out with the purpose of increasing interest in science, promoting science, featuring new technologies and reinforcing science’s touch via industrial sectors.

Director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov expressed his gratitude to the Sheki public of ANAS management on behalf of scientists for selecting Sheki city, which had played important role in statehood history, as a festival place.

Director of Sheki Regional Scientific Center, PhD in Physics-Math Yusif Shukurlu also highly appreciated the holding of Science Festival in Sheki as a respect to science and culture of this region.

Director of Sheki Branch of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University Rafig Rasulov notified that, implementing Science Festival in Azerbaijan is a manifestation of state’s care and attention to scientists and science development.

Then, a documentary, dealing with achievements of Azerbaijan science, was featured.

Art part of the event was continued with performances of musical bands of Sheki and U.S. “Acidic Band” music group.

Later on, scientific-popular lectures were organized at the Sheki Branch of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University

Within the event, tours have been realized to the museums, scientific labs and workshops.
