IX International Mammadaliyev Conference for Oil chemistry kicked off

On October 4, IX International Mammadaliyev Conference for Oil chemistry has kicked off by joint organization of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Institute of Petrochemical Processes of this academic entity on behalf Academician Y.Mammadaliyev in Baku.

Conference brought together scientists of Turkey, Russia, Georgia and other foreign countries.

Makin speech at the conference President of ANAS Academician Akif Alizadehspoke about scientific performance of notable scientist Yusif Mammadaliyev and noted that he has entered the history as a great scientist, enlightener, organizer and social figure. Founding petro chemistry in Azerbaijan, Y. Mammadaliyev’s main research objects were related to catalytic processing of oil and oil gases.

It was informed that Institute of Petrochemical Processes attached to Azerbaijan AS was established at the initiative of Academician Y.H.Mammadaliyev in 1959. This institute has shifted into a huge leading force in the country and was given the name of Academician in 1962.

Chairman of International Program Committee of the Conference AcademicianVagif Abbasov underlined the essence of the event. He stated that International Mammadaliyev Conference is carried out since 1994 at initiative and financial support of BP, "Statoil" Co. Conference aims to discuss scientific-technical achievements in the sphere of oil refining and petro chemistry, define perspective directions of studies and cooperate internationally.

Later on, scientists from Turkey, Russia and other countries made presentations.

Notable scientist’s daughter corresponding member of ANAS Sevda Mammadaliyeva expressed her gratitude to event organizers and attendees on behalf of family.

Museum named after Academician and website of Yusif Mammadaliyev were presented at the event as well.

Conference in five sections held discussion on following topics: “Perspective production, processing technologies and methods of primary and recycling products in oil refining and petrochemical synthesis”, "Oil refining and catalysis in petrochemical synthesis processes" etc.

The event will also discuss the challenges of tuition chemistry at universities and educational institutions. Conference organizing committee has received 250 reports theses from 24 enterprises and organizations of the chemical profile. Theses of the 226 reports were approved by the Organizing Committee.

The conference will end on October 5.
