On September 25, the meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held.

In advance, president of ANAS academic Akif Alizadeh has presented jubilee medals “100th anniversary of Azerbaijan People Republic (1918-2018) to vice-presidents of ANAS, academics – Ibrahim Guliyev, Tofig Naghiyev, Rasim Alguliyev, Dilgam Taghiyev and Irada Huseynova, Dr. History Solmaz Rustamova-Tohidi, including Honorary Orders of ANAS to academic-secretary of the Division of Social Sciences, academic Nargiz Akhundova, academic Nizami Jafarov and corresponding member of ANAS Ali Nuriyev, also badges and diploma of ANAS professor were presented.

Then, academic Akif Alizadeh informed about issues of agenda.

During the meeting, academic Ibrahim Guliyev spoke about the results of business meeting with president of Russian Academy of Sciences academic Alexander Sergeyev in Moscow.

Later on, Aminaga Sadigov, academician-secretary of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS, reported on the results of scientific research in the scientific institutions of the Academy in 2019 and recommended that the reports be discussed in scientific councils in a timely manner.

It was decided to submit the reports of scientific-organizational fulfillments, and activities carrying out by the enterprises, to the relevant scientific divisions of ANAS and Head Office of Science and Education of the Presidium of ANAS. It was decided to prepare and submit to the discussion of the Presidium of ANAS important scientific results of basic research conducted in accordance with the profile of the division in the scientific institutions of the division, as well as in other research and higher educational institutions of the republic, the progress of scientific research, completed topics, and also a report on scientific , scientific- technical and economic activities in connection with the execution of decrees and orders of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, decrees and orders of the Cabinet of Ministers, state programs of the Azerbaijan Republic. In addition, the Council for the Coordination of Scientific Research of the Republic of Azerbaijan was instructed to submit to the Presidium of ANAS the reports of the ministries embracing scientific institutions and universities, as well as other state bodies after discussion with the scientific divisions of ANAS.

ANAS corresponding Member A. Sadigov also touched on the issue of scientific councils in scientific areas, which are reflected on the agenda. The academician-secretary recalled the joint decision of the Presidium of ANAS and the Council for the Coordination of Scientific Research on the creation of scientific councils in scientific areas. He noted that the draft charter of scientific councils was developed and submitted to the Presidium of ANAS for the formation of the composition and approval.

By the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the composition and approximate charter of scientific councils in scientific areas were approved and the chairmen of the council were instructed to organize the activities of scientific councils in accordance with this document.

The event decided to award the vice-president of ANAS, director of the Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, Academician Dilgam Tagiyev with Honorary Diploma of ANAS in honor of the 70th anniversary, organizing an anniversary meeting in the scientific council of the institute, as well as conducting a scientific session in connection with the 80th anniversary of Academician Tayyar Jafarov. The Presidium of ANAS decided to initiate applications to the relevant state bodies to award both scientists.

At the meeting, it was decided to award memorial signs to ANAS for a group of employees of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes of ANAS, rename the journal "News of ANAS (Biological and Medical Sciences)" to "Life Sciences and Biomedicine", approve the editorial board of the journal "Social Sciences" of ANAS and the Action Plan in connection with the 110th anniversary of academician Mammadagha Shiraliyev.

At the meeting of the Presidium, the election results for the posts of directors of ANAS research institutions were approved. Academician Nazim Mammadov was approved as a director of the Institute of Physics, academician Telman Aliyev - Institute of Control Systems, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov - Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, academician Rasim Aliguliev - Institute of Information Technology, corresponding member of ANAS Oktay Gasimov - Institute of Biophysics, academician Dilgam Tagiyev - Institute of Catalysis and Inorganic Chemistry, Academician Vagif Farzaliev - Institute of Additive Chemistry, Academician Akif Alizade - Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Dr. Biology Ulduz Hashimova - Institute of Physiology, Dr. Biology Vahid Farzaliev - Central Botanical Garden, academician Isa Habibbeyli - Institute of Literature, academician Teymur Karimli - Institute of Manuscripts, academician Rafael Huseynov - National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, Dr. Philology Gulbaniz Babakhanly - House Museum of Huseyn Javid, academician Govhar Bakhshalieva - Institute of Oriental Studies, Dr. Philosophy Ilham Mammadzadeh - Institute of Philosophy and Academician Naila Valikhanli - National Museum of Azerbaijan History.

By another decree, PhD in Physics Yashar Huseynaliev was appointed director of the Scientific and Production Association "Composite" ANAS.
